The Diamond T ECM for Chevy/GMC (1996-02) 6.5L Diesel (ECM6596) is a replacement engine control module for select Chevrolet and GMC 6.5L diesel trucks, SUVs, and vans using OE part number 16216588. It is designed for the electronic-control applications listed below, including Chevrolet and GMC 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups; Suburban, Tahoe, and Yukon models; and Express and Savana vans.

Proper application identification is important because ECM location varies by vehicle. Many pickup, SUV, and earlier van applications mount the module above the blower motor; 1999 Express and Savana applications use a center-dash location; and 2000-2002 Express and Savana applications mount the ECM in the left-hand rear engine compartment. Certain 2001-2002 3500 pickup applications are limited to trucks with the I-beam front axle.

Verify the vehicle year, model, engine, OE number, and module location before ordering or installation. Vehicle-specific programming may be required to ensure the replacement ECM is correctly configured for the truck or van.
